Yearbook - will they drop figures that show a decline?
by freddo indo you think the yearbooks will stop showing negative information as the numbers stagnate or even drop?

I cannot remember the Borg putting down in writing how many were DFed yearly. But I do remember at several District Conventions they would mention how many were DFed for such things as sexual immorality. Lol, I remember quite vividly how quiet the arena would get during that 1-4 second pause after he just finished talking. LOL, all you would hear was a baby crying off in the distance, the air coming out of the vents and someone clearing their voice a section over. It was like a ghastly spectre was cast over the crowd. -

Reading the Bible in 6 months isn't "anything to brag about" - Anthony Morris
by mac n cheese inthe 2015 annual meeting, specifically, part 1, right about minute 27, has anthony morris emphasizing that "you're better off reading one chapter (of the bible) and really absorbing it" than just reading the whole thing "as a challenge".
while i agree with the the whole idea of meditating on anything you read, it was doing this very thing that brought up so many unanswered questions.
i also came to the constant realization that the jws did not have a clue about what the bible really said.

This is only one thing I agree with Morris on, but I tend to agree reading something as large and thought provoking is sometimes best to read a bit here and there and let it absorb into your mind. -

That 3rd speaker, who I think is Lett. He has the strangest facial contortions, hard to watch. He talks to the audience like he is talking to someone less than 6 years old. -

Should I associate with this person?
by stuckinarut2 inso there is a guy who wants me to associate with him.
but there are some strange things about him, such as:.
he hears "direction from unseen" forces.. he thinks the idea of slavery was ok.. he likes killing animals and splashing their blood around and making huge bonfires of carcasses smoke all day long.. he has one wife, or maybe two, but is ok with having lots of other sleeping partners as well.. he likes another person who slept with his own daughters.. he thinks women should be subservient and "keep their place".. he frowns on education.. he thinks killing in a war is ok if they deserve it...even babies should be killed.. he is often asking for money.. he thinks that pyramids foretell the future, and that only a few people can explain divine truths to him, except their explanations have changes many, many times...often contradicting other teachings.... etc..... get it?

Avoid this individual, but in a nice way, tell him you got things to do, busy or something. -

One really comes to the conclusion it's a numbers game to appease the rank and file that change is always happening, to sucker people to make them feel special. -

Did you like hymns as a jw?
by jean-luc picard ini was just explaining to mrs picard........ never a jw, and not english, how we used to celebrate the harvest festival, when i was 7 and younger, before my parents converted to jw'ism.. i loved to sing "we plough the fields and scatter".
of course, singing such hymns is, to a jw, paramount to apostasy, with the death penalty like punishment the ensued.. how really stupid their harsh rules.. did you have any favourite hymns?.
i think we would all agree, that they beat the pants off the "kingdom melodies".

No, I don't like hymns. They induce thought and mind-control just like the Borg uses music tones and lyrics to control it's members. -

Update on Australian Royal Commission - Proposed Redress
by Pants of Righteousness inapologies if this has been posted previously, but this news item has appeared today regarding the proposed redress for abuse victims following the australian royal commission:.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-10-27/labor-pledges-payments-for-sex-abuse-survivors/6886864.
what's interesting is that in january it was proposed that the federal government contribute almost half of an estimated $4.3 billion redress scheme.

wouldn't that be something to all of a sudden have all Kingdom Hall properties seized and then a day or so after seeing ''for sale'' signs on the lawn?? With all the proceeds of course going to the victims. -

Is there a Ministerial Servant Qualification Change?
by Simon Templar init used to be that if an adult child (either a non-believer or disfellowshiped/disassociated) lived "under your roof" and lived by the "bible standards of the home", the father could be appointed either a ms or elder as the case may be.
of course, if the adult child was a believer and a member of the congregation, they had to be exemplary.
i overheard at the meeting yesterday, taking place in a side conversation held in the corner, that if this living condition exists, the father cannot be appointed because of the presence of the non-participating adult child in the home.

I tend to agree. What some of these men go through just to get appointed, then pfffffft, gone just like that!!! Rank and file brothers are just better off being rank and file brothers, that fall from grace can be humiliating. -

Increasing or Decreasing in numbers. They always seem to put a spin on things that the GT is fast approaching either way. And the rank and file buy it.
